Switching Driver Installation Mode (Set the USB drive to either Pre-install Drivers mode or No Pre-install Drivers mode) Although Windows 10 includes basic drivers for most common hardware (such as sound cards, network adapters, Bluetooth, etc.), it often lacks the most suitable or optimal drivers for key components like graphics cards or motherboard chipsets. To achieve better compatibility and performance, additional driver installation is usually requiredeither to fill in missing drivers or to replace the basic ones installed by the system. The Windows installation USB drive used in this guide includes a comprehensive driver library from major manufacturers, along with the SDI (Snappy Driver Installer) tool, allowing you to install all necessary drivers with one click after entering the desktop (see Installing Drivers.docxfor details). Additionally, if you prefer to have drivers installed automatically during the Windows installation process, you can enable the Pre-install Drivers mode, which installs the drivers alongside Windows and helps save time and effort. Two Installation Modes for the USB Drive Pre-install Drivers Mode During the Windows 10 installation process, the system scans the computer's hardware and automatically installs appropriate drivers from the SDI driver library based on the detected device information. Once the installation is complete, most drivers are already in place, eliminating the need for manual installation steps. Most hardware components can function normally right away. No Pre-install Drivers Mode If you prefer not to have drivers automatically loaded during installationand instead want to selectively install them manually after reaching the desktop (e.g., using the SDI tool) you can enable this mode. This approach is suitable for users who want more flexibility and control, and it can help address certain compatibility issues or meet advanced customization needs. You can switch between the modes by running the batch files provided on the USB drive: By default, the USB drive is set to Pre-install Drivers mode. This setting is persistent and will not reset automatically once changed.
If you prefer to manually install drivers after reaching the desktop (e.g., using the SDI tool), make sure to switch to No Pre-install mode in advance using another computer. Switching Procedure To Enable Pre-install Drivers Mode 1. Open the USB drive (usually labeled ESD-ISO) and go to the following directory: \Drivers\SDI Full\ 2. Double-click PreInstall (i.e., PreInstall.bat) If the current mode is already Pre-Install, you’ll see a message saying no change is needed. Press any key to exit.
3. If the current mode is No Pre-Install, press any key to switch to Pre-Install. The program will apply the changes automatically and display a confirmation message.
To Enable No Pre-install Drivers Mode 1. Go to the same directory: \Drivers\SDI Full\
2. Double-click NoInstall (i.e., NoInstall.bat) If the current mode is already No Pre-Install, you’ll see a message saying no change is needed. Press any key to exit.
3. If the current mode is Pre-Install, press any key to switch to No Pre-Install. The program will apply the changes automatically and display a confirmation message.
Tip If you don’t have specific installation needs, we recommend sticking with the default “Pre- install Driversmode it’s faster and more convenient. However, if you're comfortable with driver configuration or want to customize the installation process manually, the No Pre-install Driversmode provides greater flexibility.
